"While there's a serious debate going on about fires, MP André Ventura slipped away and is out there provoking immigrants in Portugal. This is a disgrace," said the PSD parliamentary leader.
The parliamentary leader of the PSD today accused the president of Chega of being an "incendiary", after André Ventura left the Assembly of the Republic's hemicycle to go to an immigrant demonstration in front of Parliament.
The accusation was made by Hugo Soares during the debate proposed by the Socialist Party to form an independent technical committee on the August fires, in which André Ventura participated for the first hour, leaving shortly after 4 pm.
" While there's a serious debate going on about fires, Congressman André Ventura slipped away and is out there provoking immigrants in Portugal. This is a disgrace ," accused Hugo Soares.
The deputy and PSD leader emphasized that while many in the Social Democratic party may believe that immigration needs to be controlled, none of them went to disrupt a "legitimate demonstration."
With the microphones already turned off, the PSD parliamentary leader repeated, several times: “incendiary, incendiary.”
