AIMA threatens to expel legal immigrant students who fled Ukraine war

AIMA threatens to withdraw temporary protection and expel African medical students living in Ukraine from the country when the war began. “They don’t meet the requirements,” AIMA claims.

In mid-August, a group of displaced persons from Ukraine who benefit from temporary protection granted by the Portuguese State began receiving notifications from the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA) with the intention of canceling this status by forcing them, consequently, to leave the country. Among the cases known by the PUBLIC are Nigerian medical students who have started their studies in Portugal and are now on the verge of losing everything again.
